Industry reports indicate that the much-anticipated lineup may be revealed in the second week of September as Apple prepares to introduce its next-generation iPhone 17 series later this year. Although the Cupertino tech giant has not yet confirmed the date, Mark Gurman of Bloomberg speculates that the iPhone 17 announcement event would happen on September 8, 2025.
The week following Labour Day is when Apple often releases its new iPhones, Gurman wrote in his most recent Power On newsletter. That trend suggests that the keynote will most likely take place the week of September 8. Despite the fact that Apple usually does product announcements on Tuesdays, Gurman believes that September 9 or 10 is more plausible. He rules out September 11 because of historical sensitivities and the fact that Fridays are often off limits for Apple events.
Why September 8 Is a Good Day
Apple usually stays away from launching new products at the same time as international tech expos. Since Apple is unlikely to have its event during the same time as the IFA 2025 trade exhibition in Berlin the week before, the second week of September is a strategic window.
Anticipations for the iPhone 17 Series
The iPhone 17 lineup for this year is anticipated to consist of four models:
- iPhone 17.
- iPhone 17 Pro
- iPhone 17 Pro Max
- iPhone 17 Air, a new, thin device
All versions are expected to run iOS 26 and include Apple's forthcoming A19 processor. Significant design improvements could be made to the entire series, such as the addition of larger, more immersive screens and incredibly tiny bezels.
According to expectations, the ordinary iPhone 17 would have a 6.3-inch screen, the same size as the iPhone 16 Pro from the previous year. A major update could see Apple finally make its 120Hz ProMotion display, which was previously only available on Pro models, available on all models.
LTPO OLED screens, which offer variable refresh rates for longer battery life and a more seamless user experience, are also expected to be featured on all four iPhones. Additionally, these screens might allow for always-on display capabilities, however it's uncertain if non-Pro models would support this.
